CCM has recalled its FMHVR Hybrid Visor and ACCHVR Replacement Visor Accessory because the visor can crack when it is struck, creating a risk of laceration or impact injury.
The U.S. recall was announced on August 20, 2026, and covers approximately 12,957 products. The affected items were sold from May 2024 through April 2026 through CCM, major hockey retailers, independent sporting-goods stores and online sellers.
If this product is in your player’s equipment bag, the direction is straightforward: stop using it, identify the model and follow CCM’s process for a free replacement.
Which products are recalled?
The recall covers two CCM products:
- FMHVR Hybrid Visor
- ACCHVR Replacement Visor Accessory
The FMHVR combines a clear polycarbonate visor with a wire cage. An affected FMHVR is marked HVR at the top of the metal plate, above the red CCM name. Its serial number begins with M/L or S/M.
The recalled ACCHVR replacement visor accessory has a serial number beginning with SR. The serial number is engraved into the polycarbonate near the top corner of the right-side metal plate on the inside of the visor.
This is a model-specific recall. It does not mean every CCM helmet, cage or visor is affected. Check the actual product and its markings instead of relying on its general appearance or the name of the retailer that sold it.
Why was it recalled?
The concern is the clear polycarbonate portion of the hybrid visor. It can develop small fissures around the screw holes that connect it to the cage. Under a hard impact, the visor can crack and create laceration or impact hazards.
No incidents or injuries had been reported to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission when the recall was announced. That does not change the recommendation. A recall is the point at which families should remove the product from use, not wait to see whether it fails.
What should families do?

Stop using the affected visor or replacement accessory immediately.

Check the model markings and serial-number prefix. Look for HVR above the CCM name and the applicable M/L, S/M or SR prefix.

Use CCM’s recall process. Submit the CCM product recall claim form or take the product to a participating retailer.

Obtain the free replacement. The U.S. recall offers a choice of the CCM FV1 full visor, FM780 combo cage or FM580 combo cage.

Do not sell, donate or pass along the recalled product. A recalled piece of protective equipment should not move into another player’s bag.
If a participating retailer is not accessible, CCM says it can provide a prepaid return envelope and ship the replacement after receiving the recalled product.
What coaches and clubs can do
Coaches and clubs do not need to inspect every helmet in the parking lot, but a short, accurate notice can help affected families act before the next practice or game.
Share the product names, the HVR marking and the official recall instructions. Ask families to check their own equipment. Avoid guessing from a photograph or telling a family that a product is safe because it looks similar to another model.
This is especially useful during the first weeks of the season, when equipment is coming out of storage, players are moving into different sizes and families may be using gear purchased during the recall’s May 2024 through April 2026 sales window.
Keep the response simple
Equipment recalls do not need hype. They need a clear identification check and a prompt response.
If the product is not an FMHVR Hybrid Visor or ACCHVR Replacement Visor Accessory, this specific recall does not apply. If it is one of the affected products, stop using it and follow the official replacement process.
That is the practical standard: check the model, remove recalled equipment from use and use the remedy CCM has provided.
